Discovery Channel New Logo

I just recently realized while watching tv that the Discovery Channel redesign  their logo.  The  new logo has a more open and simpler typography. i personally like how they keep a  tight tracking and their colors.  My only  concern and critiques is that the globe looks like it was just paste on the image.  The reason why the logo has that feel,  is because  the  globe is too detailed and intricate in contrast to the simplicity of the logo.  At the same time  the globe is a strong part of the Discovery brand.

Overall is a great improvement and personally love the typography on it.  What are your thought s on it?
