How To Test Your Logo Design
Many times, designers and clients try to figure out a way to test the effectiveness and possible success of their logo. These are four simple areas to evaluate a logo design:
- Emotional connections – Ask for the first emotion or emotional word that comes to their mid. Obviously negative emotions will translate to a poor connection with the audience.
- Competition – How your logo fits among the logos of your competitors? How does it stand out? Differentiation is the key for the success of any brand.
- Brand attributes - Which attributes the design communicates? Which ones are missing? This is one of the most important areas where many designers “drop the ball”. They create a very interesting and many times great logo, but it doesn’t reflect the brand or doesn’t say anything about the brand and its features, benefits or attributes.
- Cultural connotations – These should be covered in the research part of their logo. But, even when the design is complete, see what cultural messages or images the audiences are associating with the logo design. What other images does it remind the audiences? Negative or offensive connotations will need to be addressed.
